What kind of events are
the Milongas?

The Milonga is the heart of the Tango Life. The Milonga is the name of the Argentine Tango dancing night. (The word Milonga has an other meaning also: one kind of dance belong to the tango dance family, wich rhythm is close to the african roots.)

A Milonga used to keep 3-5 hours, or more at the late evening and night time, usually for the music of a tango DJ, sometimes for live music of a tango orchestra. The location of a milonga used to be a place with catering (primary drinks), with a proper dancefloor (the wooden parquette the best) surrounded by chaired tables.

At the Milongas the tango dancers are gathering together, and ejoying dancing in tnadas (3-4 consequent tango pieces from the same genere). Between tandas, during the cortinas (separation music fragments) they thank the dances to each-other, and at the beginnig of the next tanda, they are asking a new parnter for the dance by using cabaceo (a nod with the head to each-other as a mutual expression for want to dance), or remaining siting, drinking and talking to each-other.
